welcome

Spectra Academy serves children and adolescents who function well in most areas but struggle with social skills and peer relationships.

We provide a structured yet stimulating environment where youngsters can learn certain skills to interact more competently with their peers.

Spectra programs are wonderful vehicles to promote development of self expression, social interaction, planning and empathy.

Focussing on the creative process, artistic development, self esteem and fun!

Project Team Train

Spectra Academy has received funding from the New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities and Capital One Bank for this year long, intensive program that focusses on the acquisition of social skills pertinent to success in the workplace. The program meets once a week for five hours and is divided into three parts: a community based activity in which our students cooperate with each other and members of the community to complete a task; a cooperatively arrranged communal lunch; a group session that targets specific areas relevant for successful employment in the future. The primary goals of Project Team Train is to cultivate the ability to collaborate with others, communicate effectively and respectfully with others, and receive and give constructive criticism. This program started in October of 2011 and will conclude in September 2012. For further information contact Marcia Sherman at 973-986-4482 or Alev Erdi at 973-931-2217.
